I realize that I'm not a State Highway Administration employee and I do not understand all the ins and outs of efficiently providing mobility for customers through a safe, well-maintained and attractive highway system that enhances communities, economy and environment. But every day I drive down this street:

My engineer husband suggests that it might be a contraption to straighten a crooked pole. (ps I'm paws mom :))

@Paula: That was my first thought too. But there are many poles on this road that are way more crooked/leaning/warped/ailing. This was actually one of the straighter ones... and wouldn't one expect that the straightener pole would be planted in the ground somewhere? It just seems like it would work better.

I also wonder how many public tax dollars were expended to get the thing up there. I'm sure we'd die if we knew! :)
