Trying to pay some bills yesterday, I left The Caterpillar in her bouncy chair to steal away five minutes on the computer. About two minutes into it, she began to cry - apparently because two minutes is the limit she will endure the evil state of Not Being Paid Attention To. The Dormouse went over to try and be a good big sister and stop her interfering with the latest Santa Claus movie she'd found on television. She started singing to her, and I soon I realized that the lyrics of Away in a Manger were slightly different in her version:
Away in a manger, no crib for a bedTold you it was genetic.
The little lord Jesus laid down His sweet head
The stars in the heavens... oh please quiet down
Oh baby, sweet baby, why are you so mad?
I'm tired of hearing those horrible screams
Would you please stop screaming? I'm here, I'm here.
I love you dear baby but ca-a-alm down.
And look at this beautiful mu-u-u-sic.
