There's much more to it than that.

@Eudea-Mamia & Jan: Yes eerie. I can only imagine what it must be like for people who were there that day to drive past the site. You probably feel that every time you near the Detroit site, Jan.

@all the rest: There have been way too many report of problems with airplanes in the past couple of weeks. I can only hope that we're done hearing about them for a long while.NGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14129806787655566395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33177169.post-390550324088892672009-02-18T17:32:00.000-05:002009-02-18T17:32:00.000-05:00That Washington crash - I too have it etched on my...That Washington crash - I too have it etched on my memory. The flight attendent deperately holding onto the lifesaver thrown down from the helicopter.

I thought of them immediately when I heard the news of the Hudson crash. The accident had just happened and we were in the traffic that had to get out of that area. Only one little girl survived. I sure think of that hot day in August when I drive near the airport!Janhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10021078503152904909noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33177169.post-84263490568969671282009-02-11T11:49:00.000-05:002009-02-11T11:49:00.000-05:00what an amazing story. i can't help thinking what ...what an amazing story. i can't help thinking what a disaster it could have been and how lucky those people are that he had the training and skills and presence of mind to do what he did. what a great example of how to be human. i wonder if this is a sign of how the times are truly changing.Debrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02563974065483777734noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33177169.post-27732488446229464062009-02-10T16:06:00.000-05:002009-02-10T16:06:00.000-05:00Crew members always feel that way, whether they are...Crew members always feel that way,
whether they are able to articulate it or not. Two of the Flight Attendants were co-workers of mine, years ago working for Piedmont Airlines. We always dreaded what could happen, and never wanted to be in the position of being called a hero, too much attention....
But the fact is that if it were not for the excellent training that the FAA insists on..... people would not survive accidents.
Thank God for all of these crew members.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03453429612511514721noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33177169.post-91760697506422546352009-02-10T08:28:00.000-05:002009-02-10T08:28:00.000-05:00I feel the same way about the 'hero' thing. I just don't want them turned into a freak show remembering what the country did to the IwoJima flag guys. The word 'hero' gets mighty misused at times. Sully was doing his job for which he'd been trained many years. Thank Heaven he was there to put that training into action. The interviews are nice but let's not go crazy.

This is a great post btw.RoeHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00131723337404316867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33177169.post-78744830766127629722009-02-10T00:49:00.000-05:002009-02-10T00:49:00.000-05:00I agree with your sentiment here - The hero role w...I agree with your sentiment here - The hero role woul dbe tricky.

I remember seeing that movie when I was a very small child... as I recall it kinda freaked me out.Brianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02023650756715607420noreply@blogger.com
